Our Story
Three generations. Six decades. One mission: to spread the joy of the camping lifestyle.
The Ferkey Family Legacy
Greeneway RV isn't a corporation. It's a family. Since 1963, this single-location dealership in Wisconsin Rapids has been a cornerstone of the Central Wisconsin camping community — a place where handshake values and genuine relationships still matter more than quarterly earnings reports.
While other family dealerships have sold to corporate chains like Camping World, Lazy Days, and Pleasureland, the Ferkey family made a different choice. They chose to stay independent, stay local, and stay true to the philosophy that built this business: treat every customer like family.
Today, Matt and Kim Ferkey carry that legacy forward as the second generation of owners — not by simply maintaining what was built, but by raising the bar every single year.
Six Decades of Putting Families on the Road
Greeneway RV is Founded
Greeneway RV Sales & Service opens in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, establishing what would become one of Central Wisconsin's most trusted names in the RV industry.
Mick Ferkey Enters the RV Industry
Mick Ferkey begins his career at another dealership, falling in love with the industry and the camping lifestyle. He works his way up through every department, building the knowledge and relationships that would define his career.
The Ferkey Era Begins
Mick and Lora Ferkey purchase the first half of Greeneway RV, bringing their passion for customer service and community involvement to the dealership. Two years later, they complete the acquisition.
Growing a Community Institution
Under Mick and Lora's leadership, Greeneway becomes deeply woven into the fabric of Wisconsin Rapids — sponsoring youth sports, supporting local schools, and launching the legendary Annual Indoor RV Show.
Matt Grows Into the Business
Young Matt Ferkey grows up in the dealership — from handing out balloons at shows dressed as a clown at age 8, to washing campers in high school, to working every department: sales, service advisor, technician, parts, F&I, and marketing. Every role, every lesson, preparing him to lead.
Grand Design Partnership Begins
Greeneway becomes the 8th dealership to sign up with the brand-new Grand Design RV. When Grand Design was going to call their luxury travel trailer the "Highlander," Matt raised a concern about brand cohesion with their existing Solitude line — and the Reflection name was born. Matt named the Reflection brand.
Gaylord Maxwell Award for Innovation
Greeneway receives the prestigious Gaylord Maxwell Award, recognizing their pioneering work in RV solar and lithium battery systems — including the innovative CPAP off-grid solution that changed camping for thousands.
Hall of Fame
Mick Ferkey is inducted into the RV/Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame — one of the highest honors in the industry — alongside Don Gunden, who manages the Flagstaff and Palomino divisions. A lifetime of leadership, recognized.
The Next Generation Takes the Helm
Matt and Kim Ferkey officially become the second-generation owners of Greeneway RV, bringing fresh energy and innovation while honoring the values that made Greeneway what it is. The mission remains the same: to spread the joy of the camping lifestyle.
Matt Ferkey: Every Seat in the House
Most dealership owners know their business from a corner office. Matt knows it from the service bay floor, the parts counter, the sales lot, the finance desk, and the delivery lane — because he's worked every single one of them.
At 8 years old, Matt was dressing up as a clown and handing out balloons at RV shows. In middle school and high school, he spent his evenings in the shop, washing campers for delivery. He studied automotive collision and refinishing in college, then ran a restoration shop working on high-end cars before returning to help Mick with staffing.
Once back, Matt didn't just step into management — he earned it. Sales. Service advisor. Technician. Parts. Service manager. F&I. Marketing. Every role built a deeper understanding of what customers actually need and what makes a dealership truly great.
Today, Matt's innovations include restructured pre-sale inspection processes (every camper is inspected before going on the lot), industry-leading RVDA technician certification programs, and the alternative energy division that earned Greeneway the Gaylord Maxwell Award.
